Course

Quran Reading for Beginners (Noorani Qaida)

Read the Quran from the Mushaf fluently and correctly, starting from the alphabet.

Learners
Children from 4 and adult beginners
Typical length
Often 6–12 months
Lessons
30-minute, 2–5 lessons a week
Format
Live one-on-one on Zoom

This is the course for anyone who cannot yet read the Quran in Arabic, or who reads slowly and wants a proper foundation. Children from age 4 and adults begin in the same place: the letters and their exact sounds.

Lessons follow the Noorani Qaida, a step-by-step primer that has taught generations of children and adults to read the Quran. Each lesson adds a small amount of new material and plenty of repetition, so reading becomes automatic instead of guesswork.

When the Qaida is complete, you move straight on to reading from the Mushaf with Mufti Muhammad Areeb listening to every line. Basic Tajweed is introduced along the way, so good habits form from the start and nothing has to be unlearned later.

This course is for you if…

  • You cannot read Arabic script yet, or only recognise some letters
  • Your child is 4 or older and ready for short, structured lessons
  • You read slowly or guess at words and want a proper foundation
  • You learned as a child and have forgotten most of it

It may not be the right fit if…

  • You already read fluently and want to perfect your recitation (choose the Tajweed course)
  • You want to understand the meaning rather than learn to read (choose Quranic Arabic or Translation & Tafsir)

What you will be able to do

  • Read words with fatha, kasra, damma, sukun, shaddah and tanween

How long does it take to learn to read the Quran from scratch?

It depends on how often you learn and practise. With three lessons a week, many learners finish the Noorani Qaida in about three to six months and then move on to reading from the Mushaf. You will get a personal estimate after the free lesson.

At what age can my child start?

Many children start at 4. What matters most is being able to focus for a short lesson with a parent nearby. The free lesson is a good way to check readiness.

I am an adult who has never read Arabic. Is this course for me?

Yes. The course starts from the very first letter and moves at your pace. Lessons are private, so you can ask anything without feeling watched.

Do I need to know Arabic to learn to read the Quran?

No. Reading the Arabic script and understanding Arabic are separate skills. This course teaches reading; the Quranic Arabic and Translation & Tafsir courses teach meaning.

Which level should I choose?

Choose the level that matches where you are now. If you are unsure, book a free trial and your teacher will assess your level and recommend a starting point.

What age groups do you teach?

Noorani Qaida starts at age 4, Islamic Studies at 6 and Hifz-ul-Quran at 7. Nazra Quran is for all ages, Tajweed Mastery and Quranic Arabic are for teens and adults, and Quran with Translation is for adults.

How are classes taught?

Every class is one-on-one and live over Zoom. You need a laptop, tablet or smartphone with a camera, microphone and stable internet.

How is my teacher chosen?

After you book, our team contacts you within 24 hours and matches you with an ijazah-certified tutor for your trial class.
